Ty Williams Takes First URSS Feature Win At Dodge City
The United Rebel Sprint
Series went Old School Saturday night at the DCRP high banks
and took the wings off for the second time this Season. It
was a night of man handling the racecars around the 3/8’s
mile oval and when the dust settled Liberal Kansas driver Ty
Williams captured his first URSS Feature win.Wakeeney
Kansas’s Willie Wynn brought the field to the green, closely
followed by Williams. Going into turn one another car made
contact with Brandon Fisher sending the Ensign Kansa driver
into a series flips against the fence. Fisher collected
Darren Berry and Taylor Velasquez in the incident that
brought out the red flag. On the restart Williams jumped out
to the lead young guns Tanner Mullens and Taylor Milton hot
on his tail. Once again the field was brought to a halt by a
flipping Nick King on the backstretch.
When the racing resumed
it was the trio of Williams, Mullens and Milton putting on a
show as they diced their way through traffic, each trying to
find a way around the other. Back in the pack, Paul Flynn
and Mike Woodruff worked their way up to the fourth and
fifth positions respectively. Williams kept the top spot as
Mullens and Milton battled for the second spot as the laps
clicked off.
Lap ten saw a spin in turn
three that collected several cars. With inclement weather
approaching, DCRP Officials chose to throw the checkered
flag in order to get the World of Outlaws Feature in before
the weather moved in. Ty Williams picked up his first Career
URSS win with Tanner Mullens, Taylor Milton, Paul Flynn and
Mike Woodruff rounding out the top five.
The Weld Racing Wheels
“Hard Charger Award” went to Kris Moore who came from his
fourteenth starting spot to finish in the sixth position.
Heat race winners were
Taylor Milton, Mike Woodruff and Paul Flynn.
