Rules Changes For The 2008 URSS
Season
December 9th - The United Rebel Sprint Series
has announced several Rules changes and clarifications for the
upcoming 2008 Season. These have been made to keep the Series
affordable and to clear up a few gray areas in the rules as they
have been the past two seasons.
Rule Changes for the 2008 Season include:
1 - World Products #042650 305 Cylinder Head
will be optional for use in URSS Competition during the 2008 Season.
The Head will become the Spec Cylinder Head for the Series in 2009.
Cylinder heads will have to be purchased through the URSS and will
have to bear the URSS Stamp to be LEGAL for use in Competition.
Also, if you are using OEM Heads it is strongly recommended you have
them inspected and stamped, any OEM head that is not stamped will be
subject to removal at anytime by Race Officials.
2 - Raceceiver Radios will be mandatory for
all URSS Sanctioned races. No Two-Way radios will be allowed. This
will allow URSS Officials to speed up the line-up process during
Cautions to expedite the shows.
3 - Arm Restraints will be required, with Head
and Neck Restraint Systems are Strongly Recommended.
Clarifications to the existing Rules include:
1 - Compression Ratio will be 10.50:1 Maximum
and will be checked this Season using the Whistler Compression
Ration Tester.
2 - Maximum Rocker Arm Ratio will be 1.6 to
1.
3 - No Knife-Edging or Drilling, Undercutting
or Lightening of the Counterweights on the Crankshaft will be
allowed.
4 - The Hoosier “105/18-15 Hard” Right Rear
will be required at all URSS Sanctioned Events. No Tire Softeners
may be used and the tire must Durometer at least 50 before and after
a race.
