Flynn Takes URSS Debut At Thunderhill Speedway The United Rebel Sprint Series made its debut at the Thunderhill Speedway in Mayetta, Kansas and the crowd on hand was treated to some fast racing action. Twenty-one 305 Sprint Cars checked in at the gate, with some new faces joining the URSS for the first time. Pole sitter Travis Decker from Wakeeney, Kansas led the field with Ransom, Kansas Ken Lutters on the outside pole. Decker jumped to the early lead with Lutters in second, Hill City’s Larry Radcliffe in third, Jeff Radcliffe in fourth with Abilene Kansas’ Paul Flynn in the fifth spot. Lap five saw Jeff Radcliffe move up to the second position followed by Larry Radcliffe and a charging Flynn. Flynn took over the second position on lap eleven and set his sights on Decker, with Larry Radcliffe in 3rd and his son Jeff in hot pursuit with Justin Schwien in the 5th spot. Flynn worked his way around Decker only to have the only caution flag flew on lap twelve for a spin by Cody Kieswetter, in the process collecting Jeff Radcliffe and sending him to the rear of the field. On the ensuing restart, Flynn made the pass on Decker to assume the lead he would never give up. Twelfth starting Smokey Fairbank had quietly worked his way to the sixth position lap and battled Decker and Corey Lutters for the 4th spot. The three traded the spot back and forth until Fairbank with two to go with Lutters in the fifth position. Flynn took the checkers with Larry Radcliffe, Schwien, Fairbank and Lutters rounding the top five. The Weld Racing Wheels “Hard Charger” award went to Paul Flynn who started 9th and finished in the 1st position. Heat race winners were Larry Radcliffe, Justin Schwien, Jeff Radcliffe, and Cody Salem. The Trophy Dash win went to Paul Flynn. A-Main: 1-Flynn, 2-L. Radcliffe, 3-Schwien, 4-S.
